Comic Book Illustration
Just For Fun
In this class we will learn how to create a humorous, science fiction, or horror comic strip. Although solo strips are taught, this class will encourage collaboration. For example, if one student loves writing, they may join with someone who wants to illustrate the words.
Through the class there will be an opportunity to complete
2-3 Strips. We will learn how to pull from daily life and react through the art, or make a science fiction or horror story using our inspiration. We will learn how to ink the pencil drawings as well as how to “letter” using dialog balloons and narration.
Character development and storyboards will also be taught! No experience required.
Week 1 - Character Development and Storyboarding, questions and answers.
Week 2 - Drawing and tracing. Establish where Dialog Balloons will be placed. Transfer storyboard to the illustration board. Bring Lightbox to this class if possible, and lots of tracing paper.
Week 3 - Begin Inking. Always ink the lettering first.
Week 4 - Finish 1 of 2 Pages of Comic Strip.
Week 5 - Page 2 of 2 Comic Strip Completion
