The Art Of Unfettering
Automatic Art & Surrealis Games To Unleash Creativity
Dreams and art have their own logic, and can give us new eyes when we are stuck. Sometimes we need to disrupt and surprise the rational mind in order to bring forward the fresh and uncanny creativity of the unconscious. In this course, simple techniques yield surprising and engaging results. We will begin by choosing a theme in our lives that feels stagnant, a concept or belief we want to question, to use as our subject matter. Then, throughout the course, we will shake it loose and look at it cross-eyed, perhaps finding a new perspective, or at least the ability to laugh at ourselves and disempower what normally stifles our imagination. Come to stretch your creativity and find inspiration, without inhibition. We will use ink, watercolor, heavy body acrylic, collage, found materials, and chance, culminating in a mixed media painting or series on canvas board. Final pieces will be displayed in the studio gallery.
