Drawing And Painting
Using Pencils And Arylics -
Still Life and Imagination Encouraged
This course includes painting and drawing techniques gleaned from decades of study from the masters; the old masters and the new. Techniques include working with acrylic paints and pencils. Acrylics dry fast and are water soluble. Work will be made on Hot Pressed Crescent 20”x30” illustration board, the surface is not too smooth and not too textured. Paint also dries faster on illustration board. Paintings on board are easier to store, and are inexpensive as a material cost.
Developing skills in mixing colors and working with glazes will also be explored. Students will find that value and shadows may be changed within the painting by using a glaze. In this class Pat will help the artist to “see” and work through some still life pieces, exploring the imagination is welcomed. Plotting composition will also be discussed. Every other week we will begin a new subject to paint. The first week it will be rendering the primary sketch, the second week will be bringing the painting into form.
