Several Drawing Techniques With
Emphasis On Creativity & Originality
Pencil; Pen, Brush, Scratchboard
We will be working with traditional materials including paper, pencil, colored pencil, mechanical pen, scratchboard, pen and ink, ink and brush. John will provide examples of artwork using techniques such as line drawing, crosshatching and stippling. Techniques, where to get ideas, concepts, experimentation, and working through a lack of inspiration will be some of the discussions in this course. A homework requirement of one drawing per week, the drawing doesn’t have to be finished. If you’ve already been drawing, please bring samples to the first class. This class is not for learning to draw super heroes or anime characters. All courses at Carolyn Ferris Art Studio are designed for any level artist, and classes may be repeated.
Participants Bring:Mechanical Pen such as Micron; Ampersand Scratchboard; Brush pen such as Pitt or Pentel or #1 watercolor brush - please buy good quality brushes; Black India Ink, small bottle; White or light colored gel pens; Light colored pencils; Various papers - Can purchase individual sheets and cut into smaller sheets, Will use at least two sheets of toned and black paper; 9”x12” or larger sketch pad; 2 ply Bristol for inking; 2 ply vellum for pencil; Lap table - not required.
